2012 Acura TSX Wagon Test drive
This vehicle was presented at the New York Auto Show in 2010 as a 2011 model and the 2013 TSX Wagon has not presented any changes, so we expect to be renewed soon.
For now there are two engines available. The first is the 4-cylinder, 2.4 liters capable of producing 201 horsepower and 170 lb.-ft. of torque (172 lb-ft with manual transmission). The second engine is the 3.5-liter V6 that can generate up to 280 horsepower and 254 pound-feet of torque.
Acura TSX Wagon versions come with a standard automatic transmission 5-speed that can be operated via paddles behind the steering wheel, while the manual transmission is available only with 4 cylinder engine.
In independent tests the 4-cylinder performance with manual transmission reached 60 miles per hour in 7.7 seconds, while the same engine mated to the automatic transmission did it in 8.7 seconds.
On the other hand, the Acura TSX Sport Wagon with 6 cylinder engine reached 60 miles per hour in 6.4 seconds.
Official figures for fuel consumption in automatic 4-cylinder version is 22 mpg in the city and 31 on the highway, while the manual transmission with the numbers are reduced to 21/29. On the other hand, this station wagon with V6 gets 19/28.
Security levels are guaranteed thanks to standard systems anti-lock brakes, stability control, traction control, active headrests, side airbags for front passenger’s independent and side curtain airbags for rear occupants.
Inside my design is beautiful and has been manufactured with very soft to the touch. At first glance the center console is full of buttons and controls, but with a little time one gets to learn that their operation is very intuitive.
TSX Wagon navigation system is optional and is very easy to use from the first encounter. Another option that is recommended is the ELS sound system.
The cargo space in the vehicle is very generous with its 61 cubic feet in the rear area.
Our driving experience took place on the 4-cylinder version with 5-speed automatic transmission. In this acceleration fails to provide the determination we expected, however with the manual transmission is significantly improved experience.
Its maneuverability is good and the ride quality is comfortable and quiet compared to other products in the segment.
The price of the Acura TSX Sport Wagon starts at $ 31.860 with the base model, but our test unit (Tech Package) reached the $ 35.695.
